Two industrial villages in the making

Baglung, Jan 10 : Industrial villages are to be developed in two local governments for the promotion of entrepreneurship through the use of local resource, skills and technology.
Baglung municipality and Tarakhola rural municipality have come up with the concept of developing industrial village in line with the national goal of 'One local level, one industrial village'.
The government has approved the concept for developing industrial village following preliminary feasibility study in both the areas, said Baglung municipality mayor Janak Raj Poudel.
"The industry ministry has called for signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect next week", he said, adding, "Industrial village is sure to be established. We will start necessary preparation this year".
Industrial villages are to be established with the investment and coordination among all three tiers of federal, state and local governments.
It may be noted that the state government had recommended the federal government for approval for the establishment of industrial village as per the demand of local level. The local level needs to make the land available for industrial village. Baglung municipality has managed land at its ward-13, Kalakhola for the purpose. "Almost 85 ropani public land is already available there and we will purchase additional if needed", said mayor Poudel.
According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, it needs 100 ropani land for the development of industrial infrastructures in mountainous area.
The industrial village is expected to contribute to foster employment opportunities and economic prosperity through mobilization of local resources and means.
Locals are elated with works in progress for establishing industrial village at Taragaun rural municipality – which is far ahead in agriculture, livestock, minerals and timber products.
Land for the purpose has been allotted at ward-1, Amarbhumi, Bhuskta, shared Taragaun rural municipality chair Prakash Ghartimagar.
"The tasks for developing detailed project report and environmental impact assessment are gaining momentum", he shared, adding that the infrastructure development will believably begin this year.
The Gandaki state had urged all local levels of the district for exploring potential land for industrial village last year. Other local levels could not timely manage land for the purpose so they were excluded from the process of developing industrial land this time.
Both federal and state governments in their policy and programme have envisioned developing industrial village at local level.
The industrial village will have small and medium industries while the industries of big investment size will be established in industrial zone.RSS
