Pokhara, Jan 8 : The Gandaki State-level football tournament is to be held at Lahachowk of Machapuchhre rural municipality-4. The tournament will be held from coming January 15 to 20.    
This will be the second edition of the tournament to be hosted by the Trishakti United Club of Machapuchhre. The slogan for the tournament is 'sports for healthy citizens' and aims at producing national and international level footballers, according to the club chair Niraj Shahi.    
The winner of the tournament will walk home with Rs. 155,555 in cash while the second will get Rs. 77,777. The best goal keeper, defender, midfielder, striker and highest scorer will also get cash prizes. The tournament will be held at the sports ground of Mahendra Secondary School.    
Various football clubs within Gandaki state will participate in the tournament.    
Meanwhile, the Machapuchhre rural municipality is also organizing the President Running Shield Inter-school sports meet from coming January 24. Community and institutional schools within the rural municipality will take part in the event. Athletics and volley-ball as well as Kabbadi will be the categories where student athletes will compete, said the rural municipality vice-chair Krishna Kumari Dawadi. RSS
