Kathmandu, Dec 27 : The Chinese film festival kicked off in the capital city on Friday. The festival is jointly organized by Chinese Embassy in Nepal and the World Cultural Net. It is organized with the aim of harmonizing cultural ties.    
 In the opening ceremony, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai, said that such event would further promote bilateral and cultural ties. He also extended thanks to Chinese Ambassador to Nepal for her cooperation to promote and publicize Visit Nepal 2020.    
 Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi shared that the bilateral ties between Nepal and China touched new height by the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal. She also stressed on bilateral exchanges to understand two countries.    
 The 'Great Wall' directed by Zhang Yimou would be screened at Kumari Hall in the capital on Saturday.    
 Similarly, the film would be screened in Pokhara on January 6 and Army 'Parade 2019' and Swain Chang would be screened in Lumbini in January.    
The World Cultural Net's Chairman Dipak Sarkar opined that such annual event is expected to further harmonize the cultural ties in both countries.RSS
